Let’s say a random branch fell from a tree that extended over your lovely pool and punctured your safety cover. What’s the first thought you have? Well, hopefully, it would be to contact the manufacturer and claim a warranty, if the cover is eligible. If the pool cover is not under warranty then it would probably be the following.
“Noooooo!!!!!!”
It’s an understandable response – covers can be expensive, and can be damaged from tree branches like this, sharp rocks thrown by a lawnmower, or even a crazed animal with damaging claws or hooves. Over the years, we’ve heard about all of these problems and more from our customers.
We’re here to help offer some quick solutions to these issues. Most importantly, we’ll try to save you from paying a professional a substantial amount to come out and repair or replace your cover!
Assess the damage: Before you start repairing the safety cover, you need to assess the damage. Identify the areas where the cover has tears or holes.
Clean the damaged area: Use a soft brush or cloth to clean the damaged area. Remove any debris or dirt that may be stuck on the cover.
Cut a patch: Cut a patch from the same type of material as the safety cover. The patch should be slightly larger than the damaged area.
Apply adhesive: Apply adhesive to the back of the patch. You can use a waterproof adhesive that is suitable for the material of the safety cover.
Place the patch: Place the patch over the damaged area and press it firmly. Make sure that the patch is centered over the tear or hole.
Let it dry: Allow the adhesive to dry completely before you use the safety cover again. This may take a few hours or overnight.
Test the repair: Once the adhesive has dried, test the repair by pulling on the patch to make sure it is secure.
If the safety cover has a large tear or hole that cannot be patched, it may be necessary to replace the cover. In this case, you should contact a professional to help you with the replacement.
